The International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission (IHFFC) held a side-event during International Law Week on October 28, 2025 at the German Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

Panelists included: Ambassador Artur Harazim, Director of the Legal and Treaty Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland; Mateus Kowalski, member of the IHFFC; Brady Mabe, Head of Legal Department of the ICRC Permanent Observer Mission to the UN and; Helmut Tichy, former Director-General of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria.

The panelists discussed the IHFFC's good offices mandate and its invocation by the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2017 and by the Republic of Poland in 2024, underlining the value of an independent investigation for the pacific settlement of disputes.

The conversation prompted numerous comments and questions from participants.

There are fifteen members of the International Humanitarian Fact-Finding Commission.
